Ideal for switching signals carried as differential signals where a controlled differential impedance is required

Our Differential switches are designed to switch signals carrying serial interfaces such as RS232, USB, Ethernet and CAN Bus. The range includes multiplexers and fault insertion switches. The 40-736 multiplexer is capable of switching Gigabit Ethernet. The 40-201 is capable of performing fault insertion on differential signals up to Gigabit Ethernet speeds.

The Tributary switches are designed for SONET/SDH multiplexer applications at 2MBit/sec or 1.5MBit/s data rates in 75Ω or 120Ω differential systems. They are available with either 8 or 16 tributary channels and incorporate switches that allow data to be fed sequentially through selected tributaries, and multiplexers enable test equipment to break into selected channels.

8:1 or 16:1 multiplexers for switching data comms signals, specifically designed for routing USB.

The data signal paths on these USB data communications multiplexers are 2-pole arranged as differential pairs as defined by the USB standard. The signal pair has a controlled differential impedance and the multiplexer has been designed for minimum insertion loss. The USB power paths are arranged as a common negative and a switched positive. The power paths are designed to ensure minimum loss of the USB power.

These USB multiplexers are ideal for the testing of multiple devices that use USB interfaces, allowing the test system to select one target device from many. The design is bi-directional to permit use as a multiplexer or de-multiplexer with no impact on performance and uses long lifetime electro-mechanical relays characterized for use in data communications systems.

The USB Hub’s output ports can be connected or disconnected programmatically to simulate the mechanical connection of a USB device to the module. Additionally, each port has the ability to connect and disconnect the power and data paths separately, enabling the simulation of various connection faults.

The matrix module is based on Pickering’s proven BRIC format and can be specified as a 4 or 8 slot module. The module can be fitted with a combination of Resource Distributor and Bus Matrix Input daughter cards as required by the user. The maximum configuration is six Bus Matrix and two Resource Distributor cards fitted in a BRIC8 module. The daughter cards are inter-linked by the BRIC’s 16-wire analog backplane giving a high level of integration, reducing the cost and complexity of cabling that would be required in implementing an equivalent system using conventional switching modules.
